Documentation & certification readiness
Know the audit outcome before the auditor arrives.
Welding procedure specifications, technology review and structured gap analysis against ISO 3834 and EN 1090. We document the joints you actually produce — not a template borrowed from another workshop.
WPS documentation
A procedure that reflects your production.
A welding procedure specification describes how a specific joint is to be welded — materials, process, consumables, preparation, parameters, sequence and inspection. A generic template cannot do this, because it knows nothing about your steel, your equipment or your tolerances.
- WPS — the instruction your welders work to on the shop floor.
- pWPS — the preliminary specification used before qualification.
- WPQR — the record documenting that the procedure was qualified.
- Technology review — verifying that existing documentation still matches current production.
WPS and WPQR are not interchangeable. One instructs; the other proves. Auditors check both, and confusing them is among the most common findings we are called in to resolve.
Audit readiness
Gap analysis before the certification body arrives.
A preparatory audit is not certification. It is a structured, deliberately uncomfortable review that tells you where you stand while there is still time to act.
-
ISO 3834 — quality requirements for fusion welding
We establish which part applies to your operation and review personnel qualification, procedure documentation, equipment control, inspection and record keeping against it.
-
EN 1090 — execution of steel and aluminium structures
Applicability depends on the product and its intended use. We assess your execution class, factory production control and documentation before you engage a notified body.
-
Findings and action plan
You receive a written list of gaps, ranked by how likely each is to stop certification, with a realistic sequence for closing them.
Who does the work
Reviewed by an engineer. Not a checklist.
Documentation and audit work is handled directly by our welding engineer, who also performs the NDT and supervision. That means the person writing your WPS has inspected joints made to comparable procedures — and knows where they fail.

Questions & answers
The details worth settling first.
Programme, price, scheduling and examination conditions are always confirmed individually before you commit.
Are WPS and WPQR the same thing?
No. A WPS is a welding procedure instruction; a WPQR is the record documenting that the procedure was qualified through a defined route.
Does every welding workshop need EN 1090 certification?
This cannot be determined without analysing the product and its intended use. The applicable requirements for the product, its conformity assessment and its execution must be established first.
Is a preparatory audit the same as certification?
No. It identifies gaps and produces an action plan. Formal certification is a separate process conducted by an appropriate body.
Can a WPS be prepared without production details?
No. The documentation requires data on actual joints, materials, processes, equipment and requirements. A generic template cannot replace that analysis.
